Up for auction at Sotheby's is the late Jack Bruce's SB-1000 which he used for a short period of time in the early '80s. Of note is the serial number: 088047. He was also featured in an Aria Pro II advert with this bass and the quote "It's a bloody good axe!". This particular bass has a very plain grain but is still a very interesting instrument for Bruce / Cream fans. The bass is expected to go for between 3,000 - 5000 GPB.

Hi. :) Just a quick line - Love your blog, very informative.
ReplyDeleteThe Jack Bruce Aria, as I'm sure you know, was plastered over all the music magazines, of the time.
His comment, which you mentions, must have meant many £$£$£$£ to Aria's sales.
Keep up the good work.
Cheers. :)
Thanks for the comment! It looks like his Aria went for 3750 pounds. It would be a nice piece of history to have, that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteThere is also his Aria Pro II SB-R150 Fretless, which I managed to acquire at his recent Tribute Concert @ the Roundhouse in London
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing you've managed to acquire one of his basses! Any pics?
DeleteI have the same bass, but last two numbers are 10
